My 8 year old son is a "Spore" fanatic. This is a computer game, where you get to create a creature, and live a life for it. He has the "Creater" version, but the full version of the game has been on his wish list for Christmas since about September.
And all he seems to talk about is Spore. Spore this, Spore that. He lives, breathes, eats, and sleeps Spore. When he isn't creating a new creature, he is talking about creating a new creature, and what he will do with that one.
In short, he is OBSESSED!!!
I was getting frustrated with him the other day and I said, "Can't we talk about something else for a while? That's all you ever talk about!"
Then, it hit me.
What if we were so obsessed with Jesus and what He did for us that we only talked about Him to everyone we met? What if we lived, breathed, ate, and slept only Jesus? What would everyone around us say? Would they be scrambling to get to know the Savior?
I once heard a question a few years back, and the meaning still holds true:
If you were on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?
May you live, breathe, eat and sleep Jesus today! May my life be an offering to Him of thankfulness of what He has done for me.

4 people had this to say:
My wife has Spore too [smile].
"What would everyone around us say? Would they be scrambling to get to know the Savior?"
Umm... I'm going to venture that you answered your own question: No, people would get annoyed.
And that is my experience as well. I spent four years in high school doing my best to talk obsessively about Christ, and people were really turned off. It wasn't until I started interacting with people on a personal level--to use the analogy: hanging around them enough to invite them to play Spore too--that there was any impact at all.
Sure, people knew I was a Christian, but it didn't make a difference until I got involved.
And really, that's how Christ was: He came to where we were--and talked in parables about seeds and coins--because then we could get to know Him. He didn't just proclaim the Kingdom... He invited others in.
My two cents.

Thanks for the encouraging post!
Luke,
Thanks so much for keeping it real and putting into perspective! Getting involved in people's lives and really caring about them is what will make the difference.
By the way, my son would like your wife to come over and play Spore with him :)
Too bad Spore is a single player game. My wife would get a kick out of playing with someone else [smile].
