Momman prayed, momma cried, momma laid awake at night.
She would fight my battles while I slept away
Cause momma knew life is hard
without somebody on your side
I don't know how, but there is power in the way,
The way my momma prayed.
words and music by Jeremiah Olson of 40milesNorth
The first time I heard this song, I had the awesome privilege of hearing it live on a Mother's Day service at church. And it really hit home. I knew that my job was to pray for my children, but to know what it could truly mean for their futures! God seems to know that power in the prayers that mothers offer up, and the rich heritage and faith that we pass on to our children.
That precious memory triggers another: your honest faith-and what a rich faith it is, handed down from your grandmother Lois to your mother Eunice, and now to you![emphasis mine]2 Timothy 1:5
May we pray without ceasing, especially for our children. Let us take up the battle in their defense against the attacks of the enemy. May our children and our children's children know why we believe what we believe. May the know the true heritage of our faith, and the awesome power in prayer. Pray for your child today!

That is just an awesome post and a strong reminder of the important roles we play as mothers...
I loved the words to this song. Thank you for sharing. Will you be adding the "Mr. Linky" box for the participants? My post will go up right after midnight for Tuesday's post time.
Thank you for sharing. Loni
The words to this song are wonderful. Thank you for choosing this quote this week. So important to pray. I do not have children, but my prayers are for all my nieces and nephews.
I have posted Tuesday In Other Words as well.

Heather,
Thank you for this post. You can find my post HERE
until you get your Mr. Linky up and going! I appreciate your offering us this quote to ponder, it stirred with deep meaning in my heart. I pray regularly for my children, all teenagers now. Our kiddoes will graduate - first Brittany, this year who is 18; then her step-brother, Travise who is 17 next year; the year following that my youngest, my baby, will graduate - Taylor who is 16; and finally, last but not least... our Meg will graduate four years from now... and then they will all be grown - but no less in need of our prayers, our parenting and our love. Praise the LORD! Praying all are blessed who participate in today's meme!
Great post. The role of a mom is important. One that isn't reserved for only those with kids. PTL!
Hey There! I love the quote you chose. There's nothing like knowing you've got your mom (or in my case grandma) praying for you.
I'm still pretty new to blogging. I saw you had a little "linky" for "Make You Smile Mondays." Does that work like most, where you post and go and link back to your own blog? I know I participate in "Foto Fridays" and there's no link for that one. (Or at least I haven't found it) Just curious.
=-)
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

I posted my "IOW" entry... It is up. Thanks for hosting today :)
Yes, it is powerful - a priviledge to pray for our children and we must take it seriously.
I have also posted on this quote. Thanks for choosing it!
Hi Heather,
Great quote. As a mom with gron children, I can say we NEVER stop praying for our kids! Our prayer influence just widens to include our grandkids.
My IOW blog is up at http://inkitblog.blogspot.com. Is Mr. Linky down today?
Bonnie
Hi Heather. I'm here by way of Susan at Forever His. This is a wonderful quote, thanks. And nice to meet you.
BTW, your "Everything Chocolate" button seems to have some broken code. I'd sure love to visit that site!

Wow! This song is just what I needed today! It really made me stop and think about my children and my responsibilities as their mother. Thank you!
Love it. I praise God for teaching me to pour out my heart to Him for the sake of my children's very lives. First time visiting your blog... will be back! :)
